Some (more) sad news, as KMTA has heard about the recent passing of two hugely influential teachers in the past couple of weeks.
Dr. Patricia Montgomery was a professor of piano at the University of Kentucky and was head of the keyboard area in the UK School of Music. She was also a past KMTA president from1989-1991.
Janet Bass Smith was incredibly active in KMTA and in music throughout the region, being a founding member of Orchestra Kentucky, a past KMTA president (1995-1996), and she recently gave a presentation on “America’s Beethoven” for KTMA’s 2020 Virtual Conference.
They will both be deeply missed.
