KMTA is a nonprofit educational organization representing music
teachers in studios, conservatories, music schools, public schools,
private schools, colleges, and universities. The purpose of KMTA is to
further music education in the state of Kentucky and to nurture growth
and professional development by providing programs that encourage
and support teaching, performance, composition, and research.

Certification News

Congratulations to our newest Nationally Certified Teacher of Music
(NCTM),
Misty Butler, who completed the requirements for MTNA
National Certification in piano in July 2009. Misty is an independent
piano teacher in Bowling Green, teaching at Royal Music, Inc. and
Western Kentucky University's Keyboard Development Lab. She plays
keyboard at Broadway United Methodist Church and is Secretary of
the Bowling Green Independent Music Teachers Association.


John Little, Kentucky Certified Teacher of Music (KCTM), completed
the requirements for the KMTA Master Certificate in French horn in
December 2008. John holds BM and MM degrees in Horn
Performance from the University of Louisville, and has also studied at
The New School of Music in Philadelphia. He is an instructor of horn
and music theory in UofL's Preparatory Department and is an active
solo and chamber recitalist on both the modern and natural horn. He
was a recipient of a 2008 MTNA StAR award.
