Kentucky Music Teachers Association Memorandum
DATE: 26 SEP 06
TO: Kentucky MTA Membership
FROM: Richard Scott, President, Kentucky MTA
RE: KMTA Constitution and Bylaws revisions
Last year I appointed an ad hoc committee to review and update the Kentucky MTA Constitution and Bylaws. The
committee consisted of Stephen Brown, chair, Janet Smith, and Wesley Roberts. The committee reported its revisions at
the executive board meeting in June, and these revisions were approved by the KMTA Executive Board at the recent
September board meeting in Lexington.
According to our current 1995 constitution and bylaws, the constitution “may be amended upon the recommendation of the
Executive Board by a two-thirds affirmative vote of the current membership entitled to vote and present at the Annual
Business Meeting of the Association, provided written notice of the amendments to be considered is sent to each current
member thirty days prior to the date of voting.” “Bylaws may be changed by the same process used for amending the
Constitution...”
Kentucky MTA Constitution and Bylaws revision will be an agenda and voting item at the upcoming conference at
Transylvania University in Lexington at the annual business meeting scheduled for Monday, 30 OCT 06. Please study the
attached proposed document and changes in preparation for voting at the annual business luncheon at the fall conference.
Thank you for your continued support and participation in Kentucky MTA. I hope to see you at the upcoming 54th
annual conference at Transylvania University in Lexington. President-elect Vicki McVay and Local Conference Host Greg
Partain have planned a wonderful event.
